Environmental policy

It is universally recognised that by using the rail rather than the car or the truck, you will contribute to the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions (thus carbon emissions CO2).

According to this recognition CEMAT had worked and is working from several years to contribute, thanks to the development of intermodality, to a major respect for Environment.

Starting from 2011, CEMAT has decided to further promote this initiative by going in with an awareness programme into the market, enhancing the importance of choosing the Intermodal transport to contribute to a greater Environment respect. In particular CEMAT has realized a project that will allow to each customers, to verify  monthly into the dedicated “Reserved Area”, the quantity of CO2 emissions saved by assigning their own freight  traffic  from road to CEMAT Intermodal Service, by looking up the document "CO2 Saving Report" containing all details about border pass/country and relation.

From June to December 2011, thanks to the CEMAT's Intermodal trasnsports, has been obtained the saving of 189.643 tons of CO2.

In order to measure the quantity of CO2 emissions produced by the freight traffic committed to her, CEMAT has employed the calculation instrument provided freely by EcoTransit on its Web Site  (www.ecotransit.org), by entering parameters fit to the peculiarities of CEMAT's Transports.
